MANSFIELD solicitors Fidler & Pepper has confirmed that redundancies could be made across three of its offices due to the much-publicised slowdown in the property market.
The news comes despite a series of cost saving measures introduced in recent months to try to avoid laying off staff at its Mansfield, Sutton and Kirkby offices.

Bosses say the slowdown in the property market has drastically reduced the volume of work in the firm's conveyancing department –– which has now led to them taking the 'difficult decision' to begin consultation with employees about the possibility of redundancies.

Said managing partner Mark Slade: "The last thing we want to do is to lay off staff, and we have held off from doing so longer than our competitors.

"However, in the current market we have no choice but to make these difficult decisions."

It is not known at this stage how many redundancies there could be.
