TWO Ashfield businesses are celebrating after they were recognised in the prestigious Queen's Awards for Enterprise 2008.
Annesley-based OneClick Technology Ltd, which operates on Lake View Drive, won an award in the Innovation category for its work in producing the intelliPluG, an intelligent three-way mains adaptors which turns off automatically to help in the fight against climate change.

Kirkby firm Romo Ltd was honoured in the International Trade category for its specialist work in furnishing, upholstery fabrics and wall coverings.

And as part of their success, staff members from both firms were treated to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh during a special ceremony.

'Honour'

Delighted Jonathan Mould, Chief Executive of Romo Ltd, told Chad: "Receiving the Queens Award has been an honour and a delight.

"It has given Romo a wonderful opportunity to celebrate, and the excuse to organise a day of celebrations to personally thank our staff.

"The positive effect throughout the company has been incredible. I am sure that this prestigious endorsement can only further the future prospects for our company, it has certainly given us all a morale boost."

Kim Roberts, facilities services director at OneClick, told Chad the company had been honoured to receive the award.

'Credit'

She said: "We employ just 12 staff and this award is great credit to our workforce for their hardwork and dedication.

"Our managing director Peter Robertson and technical director Ian Brown were introduced to the Queen first.

"It was a great honour for them to chat to the Queen about our products and has really helped to put our firm and the area on the map. We have further expanded our range and are receiving interest from as far away as Asia."

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are the UK's most prestigious corporate Award for business excellence and recognise the achievement of the successful business unit, including both management and general staff.

The awards cover International Trade, Innovation and Sustainable Development categories.
