TEVERSAL pensioner Mike Benniston celebrates as he rides to the finish of the famous C2C cycle ride at Sunderland Pier on Sunday.
Mike, who is a volunteer and support worker at Teversal Centre, cycled 142 miles from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Sunderland, passing over some of the highest points in England.

The 76-year-old completed the challenge, which was organised through endurance specialists 2pointb, based in Worksop, in just two-and-a-half days.

He also helped to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and was supported by Reg and Karen Bestwick from 2pointb.

'Challenging'

Karen told Chad: "It is such a challenging bike ride because of the amount of hills and Mike managed to do it in two-and-a-half days whereas most people take four.

"He also did 60 miles on the last day having already cycled so far on the other days."
