A SUTTON man has been slapped with a community order, 240 hours of unpaid work and has been ordered to pay £775 after he was convicted of a string of assaults against his girlfriend.
Mansfield magistrates were told Kyle Quibell (21), of Brown Crescent, had assaulted the girl on five occasions between September and December last year.

The first incident happened at the Tesco store car park on Oak Tree Lane, Mansfield, on 7th September when Quibell dragged her from a car by her hair during an argument.

The pair –– who had been in a relationship since June 2007 –– also argued at Quibell's home on 21st September after a night out in Mansfield, which led to him punching her in the jaw.

Quibell's solicitor Paul Bilton described these and two further assaults in October and November as being of 'a fairly low nature', but admitted the final assault on 14th December –– when the pair were no longer a couple –– was more serious.

Quibell bumped into the girl at Mansfield's Illusions nightclub and persuaded her go back to his home to discuss their relationship.

The pair argued and Quibell grabbed her around the neck before punching her in the face.

She began crying but he continued the attack by picking up her stiletto shoes and hitting her over the head with one of them causing a cut to her head.

Quibell denied the charges but was convicted at a trial last month and was sentenced on Thursday to a 12-month community order and was told to pay £625 costs and £150 compensation.
