FIREFIGHTERS from Ashfield fire station put out a blaze at a house on Sutton's Mowlands Close just before midnight yesterday.
They brought the fire under control by around 12.15am and a spokesperson from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was not being treated as suspicious.

One nearby resident, who asked not to be named, told Chad: "It was around midnight when we saw two fire engines coming down the road.

"Smoke was pouring from the back of the house downstairs but the firefighters brought it under control really quickly – it was a good job they got here when they did."

Another neighbour, who also wished to remain anonymous, added: "There is some smoke damage but it wasn't really a major fire."
