A HEARTBROKEN Sutton family are facing an agonising clean-up operation after their home was flooded by hundreds of gallons of rain water and raw sewage.
Upset Chris Jenvey lost thousands of pounds worth of family possessions after raw sewage and flood water gushed through the downstairs of his council house in Charles Street following last Sunday's torrential downpour.

Chris, along with his partner and six step-children, are now being forced to live in just a handful of upstairs rooms because of the damage done to his property.

He told Chad: "The house flooded really quickly. I saw water coming into the kitchen and went to see what was happening. I tried to sweep it away but it came so fast there was nothing I could do. Before I knew it I was up to my knees in the water and it was disgusting.

"There is sewage all over the house and it is very dirty and it stinks. There is mess everywhere and we cannot go downstairs. We are all living upstairs and it is very cramped and not a pleasant situation."

"We have had to borrow chairs so we will have something to sit on because we have lost everything downstairs. I feel like we are in limbo while we wait for the insurance company to sort the situation out. We cant go anywhere and it is all a bit of a nightmare."

Other properties along Charles Street, as well as Mill Lane in Huthwaite and parts of the MARR route and Selston, were also hit by flooding after the district was battered by heavy rain.
