A FORMER house master at a Skegby school, who was accused of sexual offences against four boys more than 40 years ago, no longer faces the charges.
A judge at Nottingham Crown Court has ruled that 74-year-old Nigel Pipe could not have fair trial.

Pipe –– a police officer before he became a house master at Skegby Hall Approved School –– had previously denied a total of 15 charges.

Pipe, who now lives in Wales, had been due to go on trial towards the end of May, but following legal arguments Judge John Burgess ruled that a fair trial would not be possible and stopped the proceedings.

The judge said a police investigation that took place in the 1960s, exonerating Pipe, could not now be properly examined or evaluated because there were no records or evidence still in existence.
