BAIL hostels to house offenders could be set up in residential areas of Mansfield and Sutton, it has been revealed.
They are believed to be among 150 towns and cities nationwide where private company ClearSprings will open the hostels in ordinary houses within the next month, under a contract with the Government.

The hostels will house offenders released before the end of their sentences and suspects awaiting trial — but they will not be constantly monitored.

And it is understood local communities have not been consulted about the proposals in all cases because planning permission is not needed.

The locations of the hostels in Mansfield and Sutton have not yet been revealed.
