FORMER Ashfield District Council chairman Harry Toseland and Kirkby Royal British Legion members launch their annual poppy appeal.
The appeal aims to raise thousands of pounds to help support war widows, former soldiers and to honour the memory of British soldiers who have died in the nation's combats since the First World War.

Said Rex Owen, of the Kirkby Royal British Legion: "I think this is very poignant at this moment in time because of all the conflicts British soldiers are currently involved in.

"It is also important that we do not forget the memory of everyone who gave their lives for their country throughout the last century."
