A SUTTON woman was caught driving while banned after police received a tip-off, a court was told.
A caller told police a Vauxhall Corsa parked at Tibshelf motorway service station was being used by a disqualified driver.

Prosecutor Helen Griffiths told Chesterfield magistrates on Wednesday: "The call was received early on the afternoon of 2nd April and the vehicle was found unattended outside the refreshment area.

"Two hours later an officer saw it being driven away and he followed it and stopped it after a short distance."

Suzanna Palmer (23) had been banned from driving by Mansfield magistrates for six months in January under the totting-up rules for offences of driving without insurance and speeding.

Palmer, of Alfreton Road, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.

The bench ordered her to do 200 hours unpaid work and imposed a new, one-year road ban, with £60 costs.

In mitigation, Donna Pursglove said: "She works for Costa Coffee and normally gets a lift to work or takes a taxi but she was late.

"She made the foolish decision to take the vehicle, which she shares with her sister. She hasn't done it before and won't do it again."

Ms Pursglove said the previous insurance offence related to her using her father's car when she was not covered by his policy.
