TWO Sutton pubs have closed their doors in the space of a week as part of the latest police crackdown on licence breaches and alcohol-related crime in Ashfield.
The Denman's Head, on Market Place, and The Royal Foresters, on Coronation Street, both shut up shop after officers served them with section 19 closure notices.
Officers says the move was part of a hard-hitting drive to ensure pubs and bars across Mansfield and Ashfield are in line with regulations.
The closures follow the high-profile shut-down of Mansfield's Qi nightclub last week after its licence was revoked by Mansfield District Council.
Several other pubs in Ashfield and Mansfield have also faced action throughout the summer.
Paul Winter, Chief Insp for communities in Mansfield and Ashfield, said: "In the case of the Denman's the CCTV was not functioning as it should be, meaning any sales they were making would be unlawful.
"In the case of the Foresters they did not have a designated premises supervisor in place.
"In both cases we contacted the brewery and the brewery made the decision to close."
