KIRKBY'S paralympic hero Sam Hynd is to be a VIP guest at King's Mill Hospital's open day later this month.
The teenage swimming star, who scooped two medals at the Beijing games, has been receiving treatment at the hospital since his birth.

As part of his visit on 18th October, the 17-year-old will bring along his gold medal from the 400m freestyle and his bronze medal from the 200m individual medley.

He will then be given a tour of the new state-of-the-art King's Treatment Centre, before signing autographs for fans.

During the open day, the public will also be given an exclusive chance to look behind the scenes at the hospital and participate in a range of interactive events between 10am-4pm.
