A KIRKBY lorry driver was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Northampton on Tuesday night.
The unnamed 50-year-old was driving a Mercedes Actros goods vehicle on the A14 at Kettering just after 8pm when it left the road and plunged down an embankment, overturning and colliding with trees.

He was taken to Kettering General Hospital with serious injuries and is continuing extensive treatment.

The incident, which took place on the A14 between junction 10 at Burton Latimer and 9 at Isham, led to the westbound carriageway being closed for more than seven-and-a-half-hours while crash investigators gathered evidence.

Anyone with any information about the collision or who saw the vehicle before it crashed is asked to contact police in the collision investigation unit on 08453 700700 or the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 555 111.
