A BLIND Kirkby man who suffers from a life-threatening kidney disease is appealing for help to convert his garage into a medical centre.
David Clay (41) has been undergoing vital heamo-dialysis for more than four years to treat his end-stage kidney failure and now needs thousands of pounds to convert the garage at his Sandwich Close home into a makeshift medical centre.

He is currently at the top of the waiting list to be given heamo-dialysis equipment for home use and must now transform his garage within the next four months.

As part of the conversion –– which could cost anything between £10,000 and £22,000 –– David needs to create a clean sterile area complete with water supply, electricity and storage space for the equipment.

David, who has been blind for seven years, told Chad the medical centre would help him get his independence back.

"I need this treatment to sustain my life," he said. "Currently I am having to travel to King's Mill Hospital three times a week for spells of treatment lasting four hours a time.

"It takes up a lot of my time and is made even harder because I am blind. Being able to have treatment at home is so much more convenient and will help me get my life back and my independence. It is very hard and tiring at the moment."

Anyone who can help can contact David on Mansfield 405081.
