Blaze closes Sutton road

SMOKE from a straw fire forced police to close a Sutton road on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Ashfield spent most of the day at the site of the blaze which started in the early hours at Sutton Back Lane.

One hundred tons of bailed straw caught alight just after 1am at Woods Farm, being worked by Robert Thomas Farms, but have been left to burn out.

Firefighters, currently damping down at the scene, say the smoke meant that Sutton Back Lane, off Coxmoor Road, had to be closed. It is expected to re-open late this afternoon.
