Blaze at disused Kirkby pub

A DERELICT Kirkby pub was targetted in an arson attack on Christmas Eve evening.
Firefighters had to tackle a blaze at the Sherwood House Inn after vandals broke in and set a light the upstairs of the property.

The pub has been disused for the past three months.

Firefighters also tackled blazes in an outbuilding at Upper Mexborough Road, Selston, on Christmas Eve afternoon and Fielden Avenue, Mansfield, earlier in the day.

A woman was rescued from a fire at a flat in Huthwaite and treated for the effects smoke inhilation on Boxing Day morning. The blaze broke out in the kitchen at the property at Swanson Avenue at around 7am.
