THE heartbroken mother of a Sutton baby who died just nine days after his birth has spoken of her loss.
Little Owen Stone died from sudden infant death syndrome just hours after being put to bed by mum Kelly Bingley on 3rd April.

And speaking from the family's Percival Crescent home, the 24-year-old mum-of-three told Chad she would never forget the night her newborn son passed away.

"I can remember everything about that night," Kelly told Chad after an inquest into Owen's death last week. "I put him to bed between midnight and 1am and when I woke up he was dead.

"There were no signs that anything was wrong and nothing I could do, he looked healthy to me.

"It was too early to get a real bond with him, but I will remember this moaning noise he used to make.

"I am OK during the day, but what has happened really hits me at night when I am putting my other three kids to bed and I think how I should be putting Owen to bed as well."

Kelly, who has daughters aged six and two, and a five year-old son, says she is now trying to get on with life as best as she can.

She told Chad: "It is very hard to deal with, my son dying is something I will never forget and something I will have to cope with every day. My three kids have been wonderful and have really helped me to keep going. I am just focusing on taking care of them and coping with the situation as best as I can."

Kelly has now planted a memorial tree surrounded by toys in the garden of her home as a tribute to her son's memory.

Nottinghamshire coroner Dr Nigel Chapman recorded a verdict of death from natural causes at the inquest last Wednesday.
