Leeds Carnegie arrived to Carnarvon Street leading the division, but left having given up that spot after an excellent workmanlike performance saw Teversal avenge last season's heavy home defeat to the University side with a 5-1 win.
However, from the opening exchanges one wouldn't have predicted the final score, with both sides contributing to an excellent game in the rare summer sunshine.

With goal opportunities at a premium Andy Woodcock's goal on four minutes for Teversal
turned out to be a pivotal point of the game. The goal was clinical in its simplicity - Jack Townroe crossed and Rob Orton flicked on to Woodcock who calmly finished into the bottom corner.

Carnegie tried to break through the resolute home defence, but they were kept at bay with Marc Scott and Kieran Thacker solid at the heart of the home defence and Danny Herring alert in goal.

After the entertaining first period, all that was needed to add to the entertainment value was more goals.

And the Tevie Boys duly obliged, when a patient build up saw Townroe deliver to the far post, and Woodcock headed back across goal for Orton to double the lead on 48 minutes, described as a 'thinker's goal' by respected former local referee Eric Round.

Teversal took control of the game with good patient football being played all over the park, Orton and Woodcock leading the line with menace.

On the hour came a goal of individual quality that matched the performance of the team. Townroe gathered the ball some 40 yards out, looked up and saw Jacob Giles on the edge of his six yard box before firing home an Alonso style finish past the stranded Carnegie keeper.

The visitors pulled one back five minutes later, giving them some hope of a comeback.

The goal came from an excellent run by the substitute Joe Rossitter making a surging run down the left before delivering a low cross which saw Jamie Smith try to intercept but unfortunately the industrious midfielder saw his effort fly into the top corner to make it 3-1.

Smith instigated Teversal's fourth, when his long throw was not dealt with by the Carnegie keeper, Orton cleverly slipping the ball for substitute GaryAtkins to fire home, just one minute after replacing the impressive Michael Lyall.

Woodcock again was the provider for the Teversal fifth goal. Again a calm and collected build up saw the home side stretching the visitors. Jamie Hudson picked out the target man and he in turn headed into the path of sub Kyle Gee-Pemberton who superbly took the ball in his stride before drilling the ball hard, low and across Giles and into the far corner of the net to complete the rout.

Teversal were hoping to maintain this form when Rossington Main visited Carnarvon Street last night.

This is then followed by a trip to Coalville on Saturday to face Bardon Hill Sports in the FA Vase, leaving Carnarvon Street at 12.45pm.

TEVERSAL Herring, Cancellara, JGoodacre, Scott, Thacker, Hudson, Townroe, J. Smith, Woodcock (Foster 80), Orton (Gee-Pemberton 74), Lyall (Atkins 68).

LEEDS CARNEGIE: Giles, Andrew Smith (Wildman 58), Richard Batley (Harrison ht), Armstrong, Clare, Thackray, Elliott, Russell (Rossitter 58), McGrory, Alex Smith, Cooper.
