TABLE-topping Sutton Sting U14s kept up their title push after comfortably beating ice hockey rivals Sheffield Sabres at Ice Sheffield.
Sting went into the game top of the Division Two North table with 19 points from 22, while Sabres boasted a 10 game unbeaten run.

After some early pressure from the Sting forwards it was Sheffield who broke the deadlock with a breakaway goal on five minutes.

But Sutton continued to press and, although the shots on goal tally was even, continued to create the better chances.

With 11 minutes on the board Sting got their just rewards with the equaliser from another breakaway goal by J. K. Smith.

Sting then went ahead with just 22 seconds on the clock in the second period with a tremendous team goal, finished by Nathan Taylor.

Sutton dominated the rest of the second period resulting in three more goals, with Nathan Taylor, Charlie Saunders and Logan Fox getting on the scoresheet.

The final period was again fairly even, although Sutton's netminder, Ross Carter pulled off three cracking saves to keep the final score to 5-1 and secure the excellent win.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Macauley Sutcliff.
