Ashfield Sting's U14s ice hockey youngsters are still looking for a win after they were outdone 8-3 by the firepower of the Coventry Blaze on Saturday.
Ashfield started well and scored in less than a minute and a half.
It got even better for the home side shortly after as they capitalised on their pressure to make it 2-0 inside the first five minutes.
But, with the home side sensing the elusi
ve win, Coventry rose to the challenge and pulled a goal back, before equalising.
With the scores level, the game could have gone either way, but it was the visitors who blazed ahead to go 3-2 up.
Ashfield appeared to be shaken by the fightback as they crumbled in the second period to allow Coventry to take a firm grip on the contest with three goals.
Sting showed good spirit in the third period as they came out battling in a bid to get something from the contest.
They pulled a goal back with a well worked move to give themselves some hope as the youngsters peppered their opponents' goal with a number of shots.
But Sting could find no further joy in front of goal as Coventry scored twice more to wrap up the victory.
Despite the latest defeat Sting will take heart from their battling spirit.
