SUTTON'S Luke Pearce (11) won a national bronze medal with the East Midlands team in the British Setwork Championships in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Luke, who is a member of the Notts School of Gymnastics, was selected as a member of the regional team competing at NDP primary two level.
The team was made up of five gymnasts who all competed in the seven piece competition comprising of floor, vault, high bar, rings, pommells, parallel bars and PPP.
With the top four scores from each gymnast on each piece counting towards the final tally, all Luke’s scores counted towards the final result.
Luke smashed his personal best on vault this year with a huge score of 9.7 and this was the highest East Midlands score and gained him a position of second for overall vault.
The team’s final score was 249.9 which was enough to earn them the bronze medal and take a team ranking of third in Great Britain at NDP primary two.
Luke has had a busy year so far, taking the County floor and vault title in March and competing in the London Open, placing 16th, in April.
Luke is now back in the gym training hard with coaches Sue Snelgrove and Sergie for the County Six Piece and up and coming trials.
