SUTTON Sting U16s travelled to Bradford and secured a tremendous first ever league win to give the Sutton team their first league points in their season opener in a 12-9 success against the Bradford Bulldogs.
Jordan Bodfield led the way with a superb 11-goal haul to easily win the Spirt of the Game award, James Newsome with the other goal.

In a thrilling game Sutton were 4-1 up at one stage only for Bradford to level.

Sting then led 7-5 and 9-7 only for the Bulldogs again to bite back and level.

But three more goals from the exceptional Bodfield finally saw Sting home.

Sting Head Coach Rob Saunders said: "This win has been a long time in the making and I am thrilled for the team and the club.

"Our new players have made a difference, not just on the ice but in the dressing room too. I think we might upset a few of the established teams this year."

Sting U14s made the tough trip to Newcastle Vipers where they were beaten 12-1, Ryan Turner with the sole reply.

Turner also won the Spirit of the Game award.

Sting U12s earned a fine 3-3 draw at Ice Sheffield agains the Swampfrogs with a last minute equaliser by Man of the Match Joseph Smith.

Cory Martin and Smith had put them 2-0 up until a lack of concentration saw Sheffield go 3-2 ahead.
