At the Nottinghamshire Football Association annual awards ceremony held at the Nottingham Trent University Clifton Campus last week, FC Huthwaite were crowned Nottinghamshire FA Charter Standard Club of the year 2008, beating off competition from over 60 other County Charter Standard youth football clubs.
The evening saw awards presented by Leeds United and England Ladies football star Katie Holtham, compared by BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Slater, and saw FC Huthwaite crowned the County's premier youth club in the FA Charter Standard Club of the Year category.
Carl Gabbitas, FCH Child Welfare Officer, who on behalf of the club received a coaching pack, framed certificate and FA pennant confirming the honour said: "This award is testament to the hard work, dedication and enthusiasm of both the founding and current committee, all of whom work tirelessly in order to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children and young people.
"As Child Welfare Officer of the club it is an honour to receive this award which recognises the club's commitment to best practice in areas such as Child Protection and Welfare."
