Ashfield Youth Football Club U13s have done what the England football team have failed to do and made it to a European tournament and beaten the Germans in a penalty shoot-out!
They have returned from a football tour held in Kirkby’s twin town, Ronchin, in France, a town on the outskirts of Lille.

Numerous French teams took part, including AS Ronchin and teams from Germany and Romania.

In their final game Ashfield Youth played Germans SC Halle.

At full time the score was 0-0 and went to spot kicks when, much to the disbelief of the German manager - and the complete amazement of the Ashfield Youth manager – this time the English were triumphant, Ashfield running out 8-7 winners.
