Selston woman injured and another motorist dead after road smash

A 26-YEAR-OLD Selston woman has been injured in a car smash which claimed the life of another woman in Jacksdale.
The 59-year-old woman died after a collision on Selston Road, Jacksdale, at 6.35am on Wednesday.

A blue Land Rover Freelander and a blue Vauxhall Corsa collided at the junction of Barrows Hills Lane, Longton Hollow and Crescent Road.

The female driver of the Corsa sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The front seat passenger, a girl of 16, was taken to King's Mill Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The Land Rover driver, a 26-year-old Selston woman, was also taken to King's Mill Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

The scene was cleared and the road re-opened five hours later after crash scene investigators had completed their examination.
