KIRKSTEAD Junior School headteacher Mark Scotton loads old classroom tables and chairs into a van to donate to schools in Zambia.
Mark contacted the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys (NPAC) to arrange for the Pinxton school's old furniture to be taken to the African country after searching for a new home for the tables and chairs.

Said Mark: "When we received new classroom furniture I set about trying to find out what I should do with the old furniture.

"I didn't want it to end up in a landfill so when I heard about the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys I contacted them straight away.

'Good cause'

"There is enough furniture to fill two classrooms and it's great to know it is going to a good cause.

"Kirkstead Junior School is now looking to support the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys' latest project donating shoes to Zambia, which can be exchanged for bricks to help communities build new schools."

When the furniture arrives at its final destination around Christmas it will be distributed across several schools established by the Kenneth Kaunda Foundation in Zambia.
