BOSSES at the Midland Railway Trust say they have made significant progress in the ambitious project to rebuild Syston Station at Swanwick Junction.
The scheme will include a complete station being created from scratch on the site of a former colliery junction.

Trust development officer Alan Calladine said in the next two weeks a start will be made on the roof and once that is finished work can begin on the interior.

He said: "The project to create Swanwick Junction Station has been a long term development but it is now shaping up very well and we can see how it will look.

"This coupled with the refurbishment of the Swanwick Colliery and Butterley Works branch lines will be a major attraction."
