COMMUNITY leaders from South Normanton and Alfreton get a taste of life behind bars in order to raise money for charity.
The would-be convicts were all arrested on trumped-up charges and forced to rely on friends, family, business acquaintances and suppliers to raise the £500 bail money needed to set themselves free again.

The stunt was put on to raise funds for NCH The Children's Charity, which helps vulnerable children and young people in the UK break through injustice, deprivation and inequality so they can achieve their full potential.

"We managed to raise over £5,000 in total so we're over the moon with it," Said Marie Brown, senior fundraising executive for NCH.

"We're so grateful to the Derbyshire Hotel and the police for helping us, they really made the event very special."

The next fundraiser for the charity will be The Big Jump, which will see 30 participants jumping out of a plane to raise money. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Marie on 01773 541525.
