COUNCIL chiefs are urging residents to improve their energy efficiency through the Home Carbon Saver Scheme.
Amber Valley Borough Council is working in partnership with company Energy Services to install loft and cavity wall insulation to homeowners at a reduced cost or even for free.

Coun Norman Bull, cabinet member for wellbeing at the authority, told Chad: "So far, more than 1,600 lofts and cavities in Amber Valley have been insulated, which gives an energy bill saving of £238,450 through this scheme.

"We want to encourage anyone who receives a letter from the council about the Home Carbon Saver Scheme to make sure they don't miss out on the chance to start saving money on their fuel bills this winter."

Surveyors from Energy Services are visiting homes across the area to explain the project and the council will write to the households beforehand to give people more information, including names and photographs of the surveyors.
