CARERS throughout Derbyshire can have peace of mind with the launch of an emergency card scheme.
Derbyshire County Council's social services department has started the cards for all carers, so help will be provided for the person they support if they are involved in an accident or emergency.

Coun Dave Allen, cabinet member for adult social services, said: "We're developing a number of schemes to improve support for carers in Derbyshire and the Emergency Carer's Card is an important one.

"It will give carers peace of mind when they go out and about that if something happens, the person who relies on them for care will be looked after."

Each card will have a reference number linked to their details and those of the person they care for and workers in the emergency services will be told to look out for the cards.

Further information and a registration form are available by contacting Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058.
