Alfreton Town beat the registration deadline by just ten minutes to sign former Grimsby Town striker Danny North on Wednesday afternoon.
North, 22, is a product of the Grimsby youth system. He made a hundred first team appearances and top scored for the club in the 2007/08 campaign.

In his stint at Blundell Park, he won the Supporters' Young Player of the Year in 2007, and was also named the BBC League Two player of the month for January 2008 when he hit four goals in five games.

Whilst with the Mariners he also picked up a runners-up medal in the Football League Trophy in 2007/08 and a Coca Cola League Two play-off runners-up medal from 2005.06.

He was released by mutual consent from the Mariners on February 1 and has since been on trial at Scunthorpe United, making appearances with the Iron reserve team right up until the end of March.

However, Reds defender Kyle McFadzean has received a one-game suspension for his red card at Stalybridge Celtic last weekend.

He will miss the home game with Northwich Victoria on Saturday, 10th April.
