MANSFIELD'S double Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington is being lined up for a third gold - a pair of gold designer shoes from Mansfield mayor Tony Egginton.
The 19-year-old's passion for designer shoes has been well documented over recent weeks as she first won the 400 metres women's freestyle gold and then in the early hours of Saturday added the 800 metres title - in world record time.

Now mayor Egginton is ready to fulfull a promise he made at a civic send-off for Becky and the town's Paralympians.

He told Chad on Saturday: "I promised, at the civic send-off for Becky and our Paralympians, that I would get her a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes if she won gold.

"I have already been in touch with them to try to get a gold pair for her that can be presented at our celebration night for her next Tuesday (26th August).

"Gold would seem to be the most appropriate, though I hope she will also be able to pick any pair she wants."

Becky's parents Steve and Kay have also promised a pair of her favourite Christian Louboutins designer shoes.

And Becky joked after her gold medal triumph on Saturday: "I have already e-mailed my mum to say the ones I want. Christian Louboutins is my favourite designer."

Bigger financial rewards are sure to follow for the swimmer who didn't even have a sponsor entering the Olympics, according to reports.

But in Mansfield, the reward will come in the shape of a celebration to mark her return to home town on Tuesday 26th August.

The day will include an open-top bus parade, a fireworks events in the Market Place and a party, 'Becky's Do', at the Civic Centre.

Then just a few hours later the double Olympic champion will set off on a well deserved holiday . . .

And well deserved too!

This is when people 'should' be rewarded for hard work and effort.

Don't quite understand the comment above. When 'shouldn't' someone be rewarded for hard work and effort?
