Golf has been played in the county since the 1870s with Bulwell Forest taking the honour as the counties oldest club.
During the years of the early part of last century the number of clubs expanded rapidly with many of golfs legendary course designers lending a hand in building the new courses.
Harry Colt and James Braid were involed with the development of Sherwood Forest with Willie Park Jnr casting an eye over the land that would become the Notts Golf Club's Hollinwell course
But it was Notts Golf Club professional Tom Williamson who had the greatest infuence on the county with a contribution of no less than seven of the county's courses
