Traditional
heathland course with an abundance of heather, pines and
silver birch, designed originally by H.S.Colt and
remodelled
by the great James Braid in the mid 1920s.
Founded
as the Mansfield Golf Club, at Ravensdale, the club changed
its name to Sherwood Forest when it moved to its new course
in 1912 and celebrated its centenary in 1995.
After
gentle opening holes the course begins to show its teeth
on the par 5 fifth hole.
After
that birdie chances become few and far between.
Sherwood
Forest is noted for its for its tough run of par fours from
11 to 14.

leave M1 at Exit 27, take signs for Mansfield, proceed via
Southwell Road (A617 heading towards Newark) turn left onto
Oak Tree Lane after two miles, then right onto Eakring Road
one mile further on.
