One
of the most popular golf clubs in Nottinghamshire.
Built
in 1993 on sandy soil in the heart of Sherwood Forest in the 270
acre former Rufford Abbey deer park.
The
course has 18 holes of all types some needing a long drive but
more often than not positional play is paramount.
Water
comes into play on some holes none more than the 17th par three
played from an elevated tee over a lake to a small green, 175
yards away, on the edge of the water.

Other
notable holes are the par 4 ninth and tenth both needing accurate
drives to open up the green for the second shot.
The
13th, designed by Donald Steel is one of the longest holes in
the country measuring a massive 641 yards from the white tee.
With
views of Rufford Abbey and relatively easy walking the course
is popular with all ages
The
staff at Rufford are always smiling and helpful to members and
visitors.
The
driving driving range is probably the best in the country.
