After these two teams had met the previous Tuesday at Teversal's Carnarvon Street ground, when Parkgate claimed the League Division One Championship with a 5-1 win, Saturday's return at Rotherham was party time for the hosts.

Whereas in the midwee
k game Teversal competed with Parkgate for 70 minutes before three late goals give the visitors the victory and the championship, in Saturday's game it was total dominance from minute one by the Division's top side.

Parkgate played some excellent football against a side in awe of them, so when Pearce gave the ball away cheaply, Bob Moorwood released Caine Cheetham who had time and space to chip to the far post for Cusworth to head home from four yards with Jonathan Wilson stranded in the visitors' goal after only eight minutes.

What followed was embarrassing for the visitors with four further goals coming in the next 16 minutes, all of a tame nature.

Firstly Cheetham had the simplest tap in from six yards on 13 minutes, then Johnson finished at the second attempt after Wilson made a stunning save from his initial effort on 15 minutes.

Cheetham then got his second when Fretwell set the striker on a clear run at goal and coolly finished past Wilson to make it 4-0 on 19 minutes.

The fifth came five minutes later, again Outram was the instigator when his near post cross met only token resistance before Cheetham finished at the second attempt.

A rare foray in the Parkgate half on 31 minutes saw the visitors earn a corner with Orton powerfully heading Walker's cross goalwards, but Daren Bonnington was equal to it.

The response was for the home side to hit the visitors on the break and Wilson made another excellent stop to deny Patterson.

It could have been worse at the break, but Wilson made a number of excellent saves to deny mainly Cusworth and Cheetham.

The second half started with yet another Parkgate goal.

The sub that was introduced at half time found it just as easy as his colleagues, when Cusworth's flick released Telling who calmly finished past Wilson who was left helpless again.

Wilson produced save after save to keep the score down, but he was powerless when the seventh came on 69 minutes.

Baker's cross to the far post saw Cheetham heading back across goal to allow his strike partner to head home his hat-trick goal unchallenged from three yards.

Ten minutes later the roles were reversed with Cusworth picking out Cheetham to complete his hat-trick with a stunning strike that even the impressive Wilson couldn't get near.

Parkgate were presented with the Division One trophy at the end of the game, while Teversal were left to reflect on a master class and wondering what they need to do to compete at this level.

They can take some consolation from the fact that most teams have left Parkgate feeling exactly the same way

On Saturday (3pm) Teversal travel to Gedling Town who in their last outing went down 9-1 at Parkgate, so it should be a more even encounter

PARKGATE: Bonnington, Nixon, Brailsford, Fretwell, Moorwood, Haigh, Johnson, Patterson, Cusworth, Cheetham, Outram. Sub not used: Nix.

TEVERSAL: Wilson, Atkins, Foster, Varney, Clarke (Burton ht), Rhodes, Walker, Pearce (Atkinson ht), Orton, Hudson, Hall.

REFEREE: Mr J. R. Price from Bradford.

Lee Rhodes pulled one back on the half-hour, but Cheetham completed his hat-trick with goals in the 68th and 78th minutes before Brian Cuswell finished the rout right at the end.
