Pair of shows cancelled due to lift problem
The Secret Adversary, Agatha Christie’s gripping thriller starring her sleuthing duo Tommy and Tuppence, was due to seen at Derby Theatre from April 14-18. while Birdsong, based on the best-selling book by Sebastian Faulks, was to make a return visit to the theatre from May 27-30, following a sold-out visit in 2013.
Gary Johnson, general manager at Derby Theatre, explained: “Due to a recent, unexpected failure of the main stage goods lift, we now need to undertake a complete replacement and upgrading of the lift, which will take place over the next 12–14 weeks.

Hide Ad“Unfortunately, it is with great regret therefore, that we are unable to accommodate the upcoming productions of The Secret Adversary and Birdsong due to the complexity and size of the sets for both productions.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause and we will be contacting all customers to arrange a ticket transfer to a different production, refunding of tickets sold and other possible options.”
He added: “All other productions will go ahead as planned.”
